Nickel pollution pathways in small ecosystem, Egypt

چکیده
Abstract Nickel has negative human health effects depending on dose and length of exposure; it is classified as a class 1 carcinogen. pollution threatens Saft Rashin village, Egypt. The area’s crops are highly contaminated with nickel, suggesting them bioaccumulators. daily intake exceeds twofold the permissible limits. To fully understand process, Ni concentrations in every input/output were determined have been normalized to grams per hectare year (g ha −1 ). Geochemical mass balance (GMB) revealed that dustfall major input (88.8%) followed by P-fertilizers (11.2% total inputs). dust mainly related traffic emissions. On other hand, plant uptake removes about 90% nickel input. remaining 10% accumulates soil retention rate 44.7 g . Accordingly, using new diesel models more efficient less polluting can reduce levels; likewise, use eco-friendly fertilizers. Egyptian clover recommended phytoremediator remove from growth media for its high efficiency low planting cost.

Pollution intensity of nickel in agricultural soil of Hamedan region
In the recent years, agricultural soils have received more chemicals in various forms for higher yields. This may result in the accumulation of metals in soils which subsequently may be transferred into the agricultural crops. In the present investigation, nickel content of 58 composite soil samples and also agricultural crops, is studied. Ni in samples of soil and agricultural products were ex...
متن کاملEcosystem Approaches to Reduce Pollution in Cities
Further reductions in pollution will require new management approaches based on ecosystem concepts. In this paper we examine three case studies that analyze flows of nutrients in urban ecosystems to identify new approaches for pollution management. An analysis of the food chain for the Twin Cities (Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, USA) is used to examine generation of nutrient pollution in the ...
متن کاملAssessment of liver function among nickel-plating workers in Egypt.
Currently no reports are available from Egypt regarding occupational exposure to nickel and its effects on the liver. The aim of this study was to assess the liver function of workers occupationally exposed to nickel. Standard liver function tests were applied to blood samples from 25 nickel-plating workers in Damietta, Egypt and 30 administrative workers as a reference group. Levels of urine n...
متن کاملControl of Environmental Pollution Related to Poultry Production in Egypt
Although poultry provides an economically sound alternative protein source worldwide, negative environmental effects attributable to poultry production in Egypt have not been addressed. The environmental hazard arising from excess nitrogen and phosphorus in poultry waste as well as other contaminants such as drug residues, pathogenic organisms, and viruses (like avian influenza) could be elimin...
